Conservation workshops taking place on Isle of Wight this half-term

Families travelling to the Isle of Wight this half-term will be able to get involved in a series of workshops designed to raise awareness of nature and the local environment.

The Footprint Trust is holding a series of kids' events on the island during the school holiday as part of its Natural Wight programme, which is aimed at promoting conservation in a fun way, reports Ventnor Blog.

Between February 21st and 25th 2011, the organisation will be hosting its Mini Beast Safari Workshops at a number of community venues.

Youngsters who attend the events will be encouraged to create homes for insects using recycled materials, as well as meeting representatives of the Footprint Trust.

Those who choose to get involved are advised to wear old, warm clothes and bring with them some string and hollow twigs for the bugs to use.

The Footprint Trusts is a not-for-profit organisation that operates with the support of organisations such as Isle of Wight Council, the EU, the Environment Agency and Southern Water.
