Composer to attend Isle of Wight concert

The composer of The Benedictus is set to head to the Isle of Wight this weekend in order to see the work performed on the island.

Howard Blake will be in attendance at the show by the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra and the Isle of Wight Cantata Choir.

The performance is being held at the Medina Theatre in Newport on Saturday night (March 17th), reports the Isle of Wight County Press.

Blake, a fellow of the Royal Academy of Music, will see the role of the novice taken by tenor Philip O'Brien, who previously starred in Verdi's Requiem on the Isle of Wight in 2010.

Rosalind Ventris, a graduate from Cambridge University and the Guildhall School of Music, is the violinist for the show, while the head of Medina College Nathan Thomas takes the role of the narrator.

Blake is also famous for composing the words and music for the animated Channel 4 TV film and Sony CD The Snowman.
