Christmas Isle of Wight holiday can feature fossil walk

Those taking Isle of Wight holidays over the Christmas break can walk off their turkey dinners in a special event being held on the island.

Local exhibition centre Dinosaur Isle will be putting on a fossil walk on December 29th 2010, giving attendees the chance to see what they can find on the beach at Yaverland.

It is thought that the winter storms which have been buffeting the island in the last couple of weeks may have brought down some interesting fossils from the cliffs.

"Children should bring along a plastic bucket or bag for finds and wrap up warm," commented the organisers of the event.

Families on Isle of Wight holidays who want to take part in the fossil walk can book their place on the two-hour trip in advance, with a family group ticket (two adults and two children) costing £13.

Dinosaur Isle itself will be open over the festive break, apart from on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
