Bite the Wight this weekend!

Bite the Wight this weekend!

If you've been mulling over the idea of visiting the Isle of Wight on a short weekend break, this coming Saturday (November 2nd) could be the one to hop aboard a ferry and make the short hour-long crossing from Southampton - especially if you're a bit of a foodie.

That's because the Isle of Wight Youth Trust is holding 'Bite the Wight' - a special event aiming to raise money for good causes by celebrating the very best of the island's food and drink.

Cafés, pubs and restaurants across the Isle of Wight will be dedicating themselves to raising cash for this worthy cause, with an array of delicious products and special events on offer.

Producers involved include the Island Bakers, who will be selling their special Bite the Wight Sourdough at Ryde Farmers Market and Farmer Jacks tomorrow. Each loaf sold will be contribute £1 to the trust's coffers.

All proceeds raised by the West Bay Coffee House, who are baking a Bite the Wight Cake and making a Bite the Wight Juice, will go to the charity.

"Bite The Wight is about fundraising, but it's also about coming together as a community, enjoying food with friends and family, and taking pride in something that the Island does brilliantly,' commented Eileen Monks, director of the Youth Trust.

The Youth Trust has provided services for young people on the Isle of Wight for the past 28 years, in the form of counselling, advice and information delivered by qualified and experienced staff members, so by supporting this work on your holiday, you'll be giving something back to the island, which offers so much for visitors.

Saturday is also your last chance to catch 'The Electric Woods: Lost Before Time' show, which takes intrepid visitors back in time to the Jurassic period in the stunning surroundings of the Robin Hill Country Park in Arreton. Four-person family tickets start from £45.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801656327-ADNFCR
