80s vs 90s music extravaganza in Cowes

Fans of music from yesteryear could be in for a treat when visiting Cowes next month, as Cowes Yacht Haven will be showcasing a battle of the best tunes from the 1980s and 90s.

Taking place on August 9th and kicking off at 21:30 BST, the Electric 80s Versus Ultra 90s Cowes Firework Night's entertainment will include a special guest appearance from dance act Ultra 90s.

Songs from two of the most contrasting decades in music will be played for guests, drawing on classics from the Disco and New Romantic era through to Brit Pop and Grunge.

Visitors are encouraged to dress "80s Club Tropicana or 90s Smiley", with bad hair, day-glo outfits and plenty of dodgy dance moves on display.

Artists being showcased on the night will include Faithless, Dee-Lite, Vanilla Ice and many more, with musical battles between 80s electronica, hip-hop, dance, house, drum 'n' bass and the 90s dance scene.

More than 1,000 visitors are expected at the battle of the decades, with Cowes Yacht Haven stating: "Blow your whistle, put your hands up in the air and let me hear you say yeah! ... Ultra 90s are going be in the house!"

Admission will cost £10 and the night's entertainment coincides with the Fireworks Night of Cowes Week - one of the biggest nautical attractions to take place in the UK each year.

The Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week attracts upwards of 100,000 visitors to the Isle of Wight each year and will be running from August 3rd to 10th in 2013.

It features an array of races in The Solent by some of the best sailors in the world and will see more than 8,500 competitors battling it out this year. In addition, the annual sailing extravaganza puts on many opportunities for entertainment for visitors, with a massive fireworks display scheduled for August 9th.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801613166-ADNFCR
