Isle of Wight event to feature in television programme

A television programme featuring a popular annual Isle of Wight event is to be broadcast later this month.

Film crews from Channel 4 were in attendance at the JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race this summer and the end result is to be shown on the channel on November 13th and 20th 2010, with the show beginning at 07:30 GMT each day.

The documentary is set to concentrate on the journey of four people, including professional multihull sailor Loick Peyron, who led the first team across the finish line at the 2009 Round the Island Race.

Sailing amateur Welsh surgeon Paul Rhys-Davies, cancer survivor Dennise Shepherd and Cowes-based designer and Round the Island Race veteran Jo Richards complete the featured quartet.

Due to the JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race's unique handicap system, each of the entrants has just as much of a chance to win the race as expert sailors.

It was recently announced that Raymarine has penned a fresh two-year sponsorship deal for the Isle of Wight event.
