Powerboat championship to be held on Isle of Wight
Thu 12 May 2011
Those taking Isle of Wight holidays this year to attend the British Powerboat Festival are to be given the chance to see a major watersports tournament.
The Powerboat P1 Superstock Championship, which is described as a the fastest-growing marine sport, will be held over the August bank holiday weekend on the island.
John Moore, the British Powerboat Racing Club's race director, stated that he was "delighted" to be able to announce the tournament will be coming to the Isle of Wight.
"A sign of a good festival in sport or in music is the quality and depth of the entertainment, the 2011 British Powerboat Festival has both!" he said.
Mr Moore added that those on Isle of Wight holidays are in for a treat due to the types of races on offer during the British Powerboat Festival.
This year, the event is supported by RB12, Hendricks and Wight Vodka and will feature a wide range of powerboat races from August 26th to 28th on the Isle of Wight.
