Several music events will take place this bank holiday weekend

Music lovers heading to the Isle of Wight this bank holiday weekend will have plenty of events to choose from - catering to all tastes.

This Sunday will see the Summertime Blues and Jazz picnic take place at East Dene. Ventnor Rotary and St Catherine’s are joining forces to organise the event for this.

The picnic is perfect for families and allows people to take in the wonder that is the Isle of Wight. While eating an array of delicacies, individuals can enjoy the traditional jazz sound of The Unity Stompers.

Gates for the event open at 16:00, with music from 17:00 to 20:00. Of course should it rain, as is traditional for bank holidays, the event will be held indoors.

Fans of the genre will also be pleased to hear Jazz night is returning and will bring Jim Thorn and his piano to Ventnor Arts Club, where he will be joined by a variety of talented local or visiting musicians.

On this occasion Jim is accompanied by Jon Thorne, a wonderful double bassist who has played with some of the best around the world.

This is a great opportunity to relax, eat, drink, chat and socialise with your family and friends, and will be perfect if you've spent the day admiring scooters at the International Scooter Rally.

For those not into jazz, there is a soul night with great DJ's Rob Messer, Paul Hallam, Ian Jackson, John Drake, John Weston, Kev Lock and soulfully Sally spinning the tunes on the same night at Newport Football Club. Olly Harvey, Scully & Siy Aylott will even be on hand to play some classic ska. It takes place 21:00 to 02:00 and costs £6.

So many people are being inspired to take a trip to the Isle of Wight this weekend and it's no surprise considering just how much is going on on the island. Whether you're into scooters or music, there will be something for you to enjoy.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801628005-ADNFCR
