Isle of Wight to host second Minghella Film Festival

Thu 18 Feb 2010

Film buffs on Isle of Wight holidays may see a few famous faces on the island next month.

The second annual Minghella Film Festival is being staged in Newport on March 12th-14th 2010.

Actors including Michael Maloney and Juliet Stevenson will be among those appearing at the event, which is a tribute to the life and work of filmmaker Anthony Mingella, who died in 2008.

Fans of his output will be treated to live performances of works such as Eyes Down Looking, Maybury and Cigarettes and Chocolate, as well as rare footage from the archives.

Gioia Minghella, sister of the late Oscar winner, told the Isle of Wight County Press: "This year's festival will feature a number of world exclusives and screenings of work by Anthony that the public won't have had an opportunity to see for some time."

Organisers of the event are also working with the Isle of Wight Short Film Festival and Screen South to showcase new and emerging talent.
