Newspaper recommends Isle of Wight Walking Festival

The Isle of Wight Walking Festival, which is one of the island's most popular annual events, has been highlighted by a national newspaper as a recommended short break for the summer.

According to a report published by the Telegraph, the Isle of Wight Walking Festival, which will take place from May 7th to 22nd 2011, is one of the most popular types of event of its kind in the whole of the UK.

"The island has more than 500 miles of signposted footpaths, including 30 miles of coastline, to explore and the festival offers an extensive and themed selection of walks," noted reporter Jolyoon Attwooll.

Some of the walks taking place in 2011 as part of the Isle of Wight event were also recommended by the journalist, with the Hendrix! Rocks! Afton! walk, which takes in the site of the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival, one of those to be singled out.

Jimi Hendrix made one of his last public appearances at the festival before he was found dead in a London hotel room a few weeks later.
