Isle of Wight Walking Festival includes fossil hunt

Tourists preparing to go to the Isle of Wight Walking Festival next month have been given an insight into some of the highlights of the annual event.

It is set to get underway on May 5th and in a profile of the festival, the Independent named a guided fossil walk as one of the treks that is sure to be popular.

Those who have a keen interest in dinosaurs are sure to want to go on the walk, as it gives them a chance to see some of the areas that were once populated by the creatures.

The newspaper also singled out the Chabydis Passage, which is "a race against the tide" as one of the best parts of the event, while it added: "Or you could sign up for the sponsored Firewalk - a 20-foot dash across red-hot wood embers."

Walkers can take part in the festival until May 20th and the Firewalk requires a minimum sponsorship of £100.
