Isle of Wight 'is ideal for recreational walking'

The Isle of Wight is "ideal" for recreational walking, according to a national newspaper.

With the Isle of Wight Walking Festival ongoing until May 23rd 2010, now could be the perfect time for walkers to take a last-minute Isle of Wight holiday.

The Telegraph noted that the festival is one of the biggest of its kind in the UK, with more than 300 walks on offer for people who attend.

It added that the organisers of the Isle of Wight Walking Festival have a good reputation for arranging treks around the island that are "rewarding".

People on Isle of Wight holidays over the coming fortnight will be able to walk around 500 miles of well-marked footpaths during their stay on the island.

The newspaper said: "With coastline, forests, road-free valleys and Victorian seaside resorts, the Isle of Wight is ideal for recreational walking."

Some of the stand-out events of the Isle of Wight Walking Festival are the nightly Ghost Walks, which take place in various locations around the island. ADNFCR-3083-ID-19769954-ADNFCR
