Visitors 'respect warm welcome' on Isle of Wight holidays

People who took Isle of Wight holidays over the bank holiday weekend are sure to have received a warm welcome from those who live on the island.

Some 6,000 individuals are thought to have travelled to the island in order to take part in a scooter rally, according to a report by the Isle of Wight County Press.

One of the organisers of the event, Steve Robson, said: "The visitors are well aware that they were 'invading' island towns for a weekend and really do respect the warm welcome they get on the island."

It is thought the event will have delivered a timely boost to the Isle of Wight economy, due to the number of people staying on the island over the course of the weekend.

A mass ride-out was among the main attractions on offer at what was dubbed the Friendly Rally.

As well as bikers, cyclists could be tempted to book Isle of Wight holidays, after the island was recently named among the top ten destinations in the world for those riding on two wheels to visit by the Lonely Planet Guide.
