Tips issued for Isle of Wight caravanning holidays

Families going on Isle of Wight caravanning holidays in the coming weeks have been given some tips on how to make the most of their break.

A spokeswoman for The Camping and Caravanning Club suggested that camping and caravanning holidays are likely to be popular this summer and singled out some of the parts of the UK she is expecting to be busy in the coming weeks and months.

The south-west of England was named as a popular area for those going on caravanning holidays this summer, with the spokeswoman noting this type of break may be a good choice for those who want to get away from sporting action.

Although the European Championships and the Olympic Games are over, the start of the Premier League and Football League seasons is on Saturday (August 18th).

Those who take a caravanning holiday to the south-west of England this summer could hop across to the Isle of Wight for a short trip, as the island is just a ferry ride away.

The spokeswoman also had practical tips on when those towing a caravan should look to set out on the nation's roads, adding: "For route planning and in conjunction with the Highways Agency, key points should be heeded. Be informed, for easier journeys check traffic updates. Be aware and plan your journey. Be prepared and be wise; your safety matters."

She urged those travelling on caravanning holidays to avoid the morning and evening rush hours if it is possible for them to do so.

The Isle of Wight is a popular location among those on camping holidays, but families wanting to stay in more traditional accommodation may wish to book a stay at The Little Gloster, which recently won a glowing review in the Daily Telegraph.

It was praised for its clean accommodation in the three rooms it has available, while the restaurant was described as being "exceptional".
