Support good causes when visiting the Isle of Wight

The second annual Driving Challenge is taking place this month to support both the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

Held at the BAE Systems site in Cowes on July 13th, the event will aim to raise at least £10,000 for both good causes, with visitors being treated to the chance to get behind the wheel of a wide array of vehicles, including fire engines, a double-decker bus, lorry and even a tractor.

Earl Mountbatten Hospice requires a minimum of £2.2 million per year in order to continue offering much-needed support and palliative care to the island community, while the fire service is also wholly funded through donations and needs upwards of £9 million.

Each of the good causes will be splitting any funds raised on the day 50/50 and all anyone who wishes to take part has to do is pay a £10 booking fee, be 17 years or older and have a full driving licence.

It promises to be a great day out for all the family and is an excellent way to have a fun time with friends and loved ones while also supporting the island community.

The Driving Challenge was extremely popular last year and the organisers are hoping for an equally impressive turnout in 2013.

Meanwhile, Earl Mountbatten Hospice will also be supported at this year's annual Arreton Barns Sweetcorn Fayre, which will be taking place on the 28th and 29th of August.

Visitors will be able to enjoy an array of sweetcorn-related fare on the day, as well as vintage craft stalls, fete attractions, fairground rides and plenty more to keep families entertained.

Adults heading to the fayre will also be able to partake in cheese and wine tasting sessions, while the on-site public house The Dairyman's Daughter will be serving more than 40 locally-sourced beers and ales.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801596390-ADNFCR
