Pub regulars take Isle of Wight holiday together
Mon 26 Sep 2011
Isle of Wight holidays have been taken by a group of regulars from a pub in Nottinghamshire.
Landlord and landlady John and Vanessa Bolton from the New Inn in Newthorpe headed to the island along with 50 of their best customers for a break on the island earlier in the summer.
According to a report published in the Eastwood and Kimberley Advertiser, this is the third time the group has decided to head away together on holiday.
Mr Bolton explained how the customers are a "brilliant" batch of people and pointed out he and his wife often do a lot with them.
"We are a very close knit community pub. There was not one cross word said and my sides hurt coming home from laughing too much!" he told the newspaper of their Isle of Wight holidays.
Mr Bolton added that during their time on the island, they found out that the manager of the hotel they had chosen had previously worked in an establishment close to the New Inn.
"It was amazing that all these years later, 51 of us from the area turn up at her hotel," he added.
The hotel's manager used to run the Lord Nelson pub in Eastwood around two decades ago.
Those who follow the example of the pub regulars and book Isle of Wight holidays can look forward to experiencing the island's unique microclimate, according to The Kooks singer Luke Pritchard.
Speaking to the Independent recently, the musician stated that the Isle of Wight is his favourite place in the UK and pointed out his band have played at the Isle of Wight Festival a couple of times.
"Ventnor is beautiful, too: a formerly grand seaside town, which is now a faded glory," said Pritchard, who is perhaps best known for hit track Naive, which made it to the top five of the UK singles chart in 2006.
