People set to head to the Isle of Wight this bank holiday weekend

The bank holiday weekend will shortly be commencing and many people will be clocking off for three days of rest and relaxation.

Several individuals and families will be looking for somewhere to visit over the weekend and the Isle of Wight is always a hotspot for tourists looking for an affordable getaway.

It will definitely be a destination of choice this time around too as there is so much going on this weekend to keep everyone busy.

If you're a fan of art then the Five West Wight Artists exhibition should definitely be on your radar.

The event is set to be held at Quarr Abbey Gallery until 27th August and will showcase some of the best work from the island's local talent.

For example, Lis Toft will be showing her delightful ceramic ware, including a cherub bowl with the babies name in gold lustre, and Tim English is revealing some intriguing ceramic ware of his own.

If paintings are more your thing then Marion Large will be on hand to hang her striking and evocative paintings, many of which show magnificent desert landscapes.

Meanwhile, Pauline Evans is showing off her colourful and decorative glassware and jewellery at the event and Rob Hawker has a selection of photographic land and seascapes.

What's more, if you like what you see, all of it is for sale at affordable prices, meaning you can take home a memento of your visit. There's no excuse not to go along as entry and parking is completely free.

If you're bringing the kids along this weekend then there is a brilliant event taking place in Ventnor Park on Sunday (August 25th) between 11:00 and 14:00.

Known as the Dinosaur Picnic, there will be plenty of dino-themed games for children to enjoy, as well as some stories told by experts. They can even help to build a giant dinosaur, which will teach them the values of teamwork.

You can bring your own picnic or buy one from the putting green kiosk, which will be selling special children’s 'Dino Picnic boxes'.

Hopefully this weekend will bring sunshine with it so the island can be enjoyed to its fullest.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801629192-ADNFCR
