Niton recommended for Isle of Wight holidaymakers

Tourists planning their Isle of Wight holidays this summer have been advised to consider staying in Niton.

According to Lisa Markwell of the Independent, this part of the island is quieter and less developed than some of the more popular destinations in the north of the Isle of Wight.

She told those on Isle of Wight holidays to head to Needles Old Battery, adding that the site is now run by the National Trust.

"Children will love scrambling over the concrete remains of the giant searchlights and the tearooms have the best cakes I've tasted in years," she said.

Ms Markwell added that the further inland those on Isle of Wight holidays travel, the prettier the views of the island become.

She recommended The Taverners pub in Godshill as one place well worth a visit.

Those planning Isle of Wight holidays who want to take the advice of the travel journalist can visit the tea room at Needles Old Battery any time until the end of October.
