Last-minute Isle of Wight holiday bookings 'could increase'
Fri 3 Sep 2010
More and more people could be set to book last-minute Isle of Wight holidays this year as worries over the state of the economy persist.
According to Bob Atkinson, travel expert from travelsupermarket.com, many people are currently unsure of their economic future.
He was commenting after research from Sainsbury's Credit Cards indicated that more than 1.25 million people went on holiday this summer less than two weeks after booking their break.
Some 290,000 of these people left their homes to go on holiday less than 24 hours after booking the vacation.
Mr Atkinson explained that last-minute holidays have become attractive because they allow people to wait and see what they will be able to afford.
Isle of Wight holidays could be set for a boost as a result of this, with a spokesperson from the local council recently stating that they are "right for everyone".
