Isle of Wight land 'could become holiday village'

Isle of Wight holidays could become more popular in the future, as proposals have been submitted for a major new tourism complex on the island.

A 170-acre site at the former Marsh Farm has been purchased by Sussex-based IOW Eco Reserve recently and it plans to create a development with 60 holiday lodges, as well as a wetland nature reserve.

The Isle of Wight County Press reports that the land is currently earmarked for an 18-hole golf course and Brading mayor Marianne Sullivan stated that the new proposals could be good for the town as they will create job.

Philip Russell-Vick, from project designers Enplan, said: "The scheme will provide improved public access to the nature reserve and multi-million pound investment into the island's economy."

Brading is currently known for the skeletal, artifactual and structural remains that have been found in the town, while a new £3 million exhibition centre is one of its top attractions for those on Isle of Wight holidays.
