Isle of Wight 'has it all'

Tourists searching for a place to head to on a break this summer may wish to book Isle of Wight holidays after a report about the destination stated that it has it all.

A review of the Isle of Wight by Anglotopia explained that the island has been described as Britain's equivalent to Martha's Vineyard, with lots to explore during a vacation.

It noted that in order to make Isle of Wight holidays even more special, it is necessary to take a ferry ride in order to get to the island, with operators including Red Funnel.

"The island is a patchwork of small towns, tiny villages and even smaller hamlets dotted across unspoilt rolling countryside, nestled under forest and downland, with stunning views all the way along the south coast of England into Dorset and beyond," the report said, noting the Isle of Wight is also famous for having more pubs per square mile than any other English county.

Many of these are very traditional and have a thatched roof and a log fire, as well as a wide range of local ales that can be sampled by those on Isle of Wight holidays.

It was noted one of the main reasons the Isle of Wight is famous is because it was chosen as a destination for the holiday home of Queen Victoria, who regularly took breaks at Osborne House.

Some 2.5 million visitors take Isle of Wight holidays every year now, with the stately manor one of the most popular destinations for them to head to during their break on the island.

Pop icon Steve Harley recently told the Isle of Wight County Press that he remembers going to the island on family holidays when he was a youngster, claiming that the island has a "special aura" about it.

He will be performing at the Isle of Arts festival that is taking place later in the month.
