Isle of Wight caravan holidays 'growing in popularity'

Holidaymakers in the Isle of Wight may be more inclined to consider a caravan break as a result of the economic downturn.

Alicia Dunne, deputy director general of the National Caravan Council (NCC), has noted that holidays within the UK have seen growing popularity in recent years, with caravanning trips proving a particularly popular choice.

She noted that air travel has seen a number of disruptions in recent months due to strikes and cancellations, while the weakness of the pound has made trips abroad less appealing.

As a result, caravan breaks have become a more attractive option among both families and older travellers, according to the NCC representative.

"Many [holiday] parks have made their short-break offer more attractive, with themed breaks, top class entertainment and a range of activities for all that are not fair weather-dependent," Ms Dunne added.

Earlier this week, Isle of Wight Council noted that the island has a wide variety of caravan parks, which could make it an ideal location to visit during the upcoming half-term break.
