Celebrate the sounds of Scotland on a visit to the Isle of Wight

Robin Hill Adventure Park & Gardens is to host a celebration of Scottish music and tradition this month, with visitors encouraged to head along and sample some Highland fun and festivities.

Set to take place on August 11th from 10:00 to 17:00 BST, the annual Island Highland Gathering will offer plenty of attractions for visitors, including live music and entertainment that is not to be found elsewhere on the Isle of Wight.

The line-up for the day includes performances from The Rose and Thistle Pipe Band, The Metropolitan Police Emerald Society Pipe and Drums Band, Glenduart Pipe and Drums Band and The IHS Reading Scottish Pipe Band.

In addition, guests will be treated to the spectacle of the Isle of Wight Caledonian Society Dancers, Bloodstone Border Morris, Medina Marching Band, The Alice Boyle O'Dowda Dance Group and The Shamrock and Thistle Dancers.

Bag piping sessions will also be available for festivalgoers, as will a range of whisky and traditional Scottish food tastings.

The Rabbie Burns Experience will showcase the poetry of this iconic Scottish bard, while the Celtic Stage will offer music from Second Time Around, Slainte Va and Wight Hot Pipes.

Solo piping and drumming competitions will also be taking place throughout the day, with prizes on offer for the most skilful bands and single entrants.

All in all, the day promises to be a real treat for visitors looking to sample all the delights of a trip to Scotland, but they are able to do so while visiting the Isle of Wight instead.

Organised by local charity Earl Mountbatten Hospice, the event will see funds raised for the palliative of care of terminally ill individuals across the Isle of Wight, with the hospice also offering additional support to their families and loved ones.

Admission to the Island Highland Gathering 2013 will cost £9.95 per person and tickets are available from the hospice fundraising office, Robin Hill Adventure Park directly and online.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801621133-ADNFCR
