Celebrate May Day during Isle of Wight holiday

People taking Isle of Wight holidays during the upcoming bank holiday weekend can take part in the May Day celebrations which are being held on the island.

The May Day Jouvay is taking place on both sides of the Solent, with the Isle of Wight's festivities set to be held at Fort Victoria Country Park, which is near Yarmouth.

Isle of Wight holidaymakers will be able to enjoy Morris dancing, samba music and carnival costumes at the event.

A parade of more than 200 Isle of Wight schoolchildren will make their way to Yarmouth town centre, where they will be met by Isle of Wight Morris dancers and the Isle of Wight Cloggies, who will then give a performance in the town's square.

An open-air barn dance will give people on Isle of Wight holidays great memories of their trip to the island, with a late night promised.

People on Isle of Wight holidays will be able to spend the following day checking out the sites of Yarmouth, including the town's castle. ADNFCR-3083-ID-19744260-ADNFCR
