Are Isle of Wight holidays the perfect option for wildlife lovers?

During a holiday on the Isle of Wight, there is sure to be a strong temptation to head out into the region's lush countryside and enjoy a remarkably peaceful and beautiful experience.

Additionally, tourists will be in a great position to try and spot some of the UK's most fascinating and diverse wildlife. After all, the island is the ideal spot for many species to live - and that includes some that are found in few other parts of the country.

The Daily Telegraph has revealed that the Isle of Wight is one of just a small number of locations in which a new brunette squirrel has been spotted. While many Britons are familiar with red and grey squirrels - and experts have known about a rare black variety for some time - there have been few sightings of the brunette species.

However, they have been identified and are known to live in the UK, as a recent research project confirmed this.

They are the rarest type of all and, despite being fairly common on the continent, are extremely hard to find in the UK. Indeed, researchers think this may be the first time a single one of the animals has ever been seen on British soil.

Perhaps the best news of all is that the Isle of Wight is one of the places where they are confirmed to have been sighted. This could give travellers fresh initiative when it comes to searching for exciting creatures on a break on the island.

Interestingly, brunette squirrels have been found in some areas where red squirrels also thrive.

With mile after mile of coastline sure to make diving to spot marine animals a popular option on the Isle of Wight and plenty of remote rural spots for other breeds to live, a wildlife holiday in the area might just be the dream trip for animal lovers.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801465451-ADNFCR
