Isle of Wight Garlic Festival 'attracts thousands annually'

Thousands of people book Isle of Wight holidays every year in order to attend the Isle of Wight Garlic Festival.

This is according to a report in the Daily Mail, which said it regularly attracts 25,000 people, making it second only to Cowes Week - the sailing regatta - as the Isle of Wight's most popular event.

It noted that the Garlic Farm in Newchurch is the hub of the activities for the Isle of Wight Garlic Festival, which was launched to raise money for a village school.

"Visit at any time of year and you will the find it has a fine cafe and shop which sells chutneys, mustards and 25 Vampire Pickles," said the newspaper.

It also recommended walking the coastal path, visiting former holiday residence of Queen Victoria Osborne House and checking out "picturesque villages" during Isle of Wight holidays.

The 2011 Isle of Wight Garlic Festival is set to run on August 20th and 21st 2011, with adult tickets available from £7.50.
