Enjoy the upcoming Isle of Wight Garlic Festival

Visitors to the Isle of Wight in the coming months might like to head along to what has become a standout feature of the island's annual calendar - the Isle of Wight Garlic Festival.

With more than 25,000 visitors expected this year, it promises to be one of the biggest and best to date, with local growers and retailers embracing the garlicky atmosphere to provide an array of delicious treats and surprises.

First launched in 1983, the festival has grown considerably over recent years and is now second in popularity among visitors and locals alike only to Cowes Week.

Vendors will be on hand with a range of appetising garlic goods, including garlic ice creams, salad dressings, chutneys and much more, not to mention local growers will be showcasing some of the sweetest and delicious bulbs buyers can get their hands on.

A host of entertainment is being put on this year, with acts to fascinate the kids, hundreds of arts and crafts stalls for mums and dads and plenty of garlicky treats for everyone to enjoy.

It is not only a great day out, but the festival organisers also play a key role in supporting local charities, with five chosen every year to be showcased.

The festival will take place just outside Newport on August 17th and 18th, and visitors of all ages are welcome. Entry will cost £8 for adults and £5 for kids, with the show taking place from 10:00 to 18:00 BST each day.

Meanwhile, music and VW camper lovers heading to the Isle of Wight in August might also like to head along to this year's V-Dub festival, which will be taking place at the Isle of Wight County Showground.

It promises to offer a mix of automotive excitement and the latest artists from the UK's contemporary music scene, with confirmed acts to date including The Cuban Brothers, Pleasurade, Gareth Icke and The Ohmz.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801570285-ADNFCR
