Unsigned talent to headline Isle of Wight Festival

Music lovers planning to head to this year's Isle of Wight Festival could be in for a treat, as some of the best unsigned acts in the UK have been vying to take centre stage at the show - and the winners have now been decided.

A number of unsigned performers took part in a nationwide competition to unearth the most promising and awesome talent in the UK over recent months, with the final of the event having taken place on March 13th.

From hundreds of entrants, just 12 acts were shortlisted to take part in the live final and from this group, six lucky winners have emerged.

Isle of Wight Festival organiser John Giddings said: "The Isle of Wight Festival Unsigned final was a great night and choosing the winners from so many talented new artists was not an easy task, but in the end the best six acts were selected to play at this year's festival. We want to thank all the musicians who entered and the finalists, the standard was exceptional.

"It's fantastic to be able to give unsigned artists the chance to play at the Isle of Wight Festival in front of our amazing crowd. Who knows maybe one day they'll be performing further up the bill!"

Set to perform on each of the festival's stages throughout the long weekend - June 13th to 16th - the Main Stage will be graced by old school grunge rock band Tank Trap. Featuring bluesy riffs and catchy beats, this Gravesend band name their inspirations to get into music as no less than the iconic Led Zeppelin, Black Stone Cherry, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam.

Meanwhile, indie rock-reggae artists XOVA will be taking to the Life's A Beach stage, with the Birmingham-based performers drawing on extensive influences from the worlds of ska, rock, dubstep, blues, Motown and folk.

Crystal Seagulls will be performing in the Big Top, with the four-piece indie band harking back to the swinging '60s, combining this with the swagger of the '90s and mixing in a modern twist of crazy beats and infectious sounds for good measure.

Head to The Cabaret Club to listen to Cable Street Collective and enjoy some rhythm-driven, African-influenced sunshine music that is sure to get the party started, while the Hipshaker Lounge will host classic soul music from CHIDI.

Finally, the Bandstand is set to see soulful songstress Louise Golbey performing, with the artist bringing a unique musical medley of contemporary jazz and soul that is sure to fire up and chill out the crowd in equal measure.

Unsigned artists are not the only draw for this year's festival though, as some of the biggest names from the world of music have confirmed their attendance in 2013.

Headline performers for the weekend include The Stone Roses, The Killers and Bon Jovi on the Main Stage, while Ellie Goulding, Sub Focus and Blondie will be performing at the same time in the Big Top.

Other supporting acts that can be seen throughout the weekend include Rizzle Kicks, I Am Kloot, A-Trak, The Happy Mondays, Bloc Party, Paul Weller and many more.

Tickets are still available for anyone hoping to head along and catch a glimpse of their favourite band. Prices for an adult weekend campus are £185, while children can get in for £92.50. A non-camping ticket will set visitors back £170 and £85 respectively, while day entry costs £75 and £37.50. Infants six and under can get in for free.

Unfortunately, anyone planning to bring a camper van to the festival who has not yet purchased their ticket is unable to do so, as this form of entry has already sold out.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801563618-ADNFCR
