The Strokes begin Isle of Wight Festival rehearsals

The Strokes have begun their preparations for their headline show at the Isle of Wight Festival next month.

Julian Casablancas, the New York alternative rock band's lead singer, posted a picture of the quintet in rehearsals on his Twitter page.

He accompanied the post with the simple message: "Boys of summer".

Casablancas has rejoined the group, who have so far released three albums, after spending some time away recording and releasing his debut solo record and then playing shows to support it.

A fourth Strokes album is currently in production, although fans may yet have a wait on their hands, with a release date of January 2011 currently mooted.

The Strokes are headlining the Saturday night of this year's Isle of Wight Festival, which takes place at Seaclose Park in Newport from June 11th-13th 2010.

They will be joined by Sir Paul McCartney and Jay-Z as bill-toppers at the event, with other acts on the line-up including Florence and the Machine, Little Boots, The Courteeners and Blondie.
