Strong line-up for Isle of Wight Festival

The line-up for the 2014 Isle of Wight Festival is getting stronger by the week, with major new acts being added to the bill.

Let's take a look at who's been confirmed for the June music extravaganza at Seaclose Park.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Arguably the biggest band on the bill are Saturday's main stage headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The American four-piece has a huge back catalogue of singalong funk rock hits including 'Under the Bridge', 'Can't Stop' and 'Dani California' dating back to the late 80s, so expect a set full of instantly recognisable tunes.

Not only will the IOW be the first UK festival appearance from the quartet since 2007, it is also their only show in this country booked in for the whole of 2014.

The band described the chance to play as a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity".

Kings of Leon

Sunday's headliners and the latest addition the festival line-up, Kings of Leon have been one of the most sought-after rock acts in the world ever since they scored their first UK number one, 'Sex on Fire', in 2008 after nearly a decade together.

The packed crowd will be eagerly anticipating the performance of this and other anthemic favourite 'Use Somebody', also from 2008's 'Only By the Night'.

John Giddings, the festival's promoter, said the addition of Kings of Leon following the announcement of the Chili Peppers meant it would be "a rock 'n' roll weekend".

Biffy Clyro

Representing the UK on the Friday is another band that has made a major commercial breakthrough in recent years. Scottish rock act Biffy Clyro were opening festivals ten years ago, but following the success of platinum-selling album 'Puzzle' in 2007, the band can now draw significant crowds of its own.

Expect to hear plenty of cheers for top ten singles 'Mountains' and 'Many of Horror'.

Other British acts confirmed for the festival include DJ Calvin Harris, 90s hitmakers Travis and electronic quartet Rudimental. ADNFCR-3083-ID-801689804-ADNFCR
