Madonna inspires Jay-Z's Isle of Wight Festival gig

Rap superstar Jay-Z has said he takes inspiration from Madonna for his live shows, which will include a headline performance at the Isle of Wight Festival this June.

He stated that he admires the production values of stage shows from performers such as Madonna and Daft Punk.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, he said the live shows in the early part of his career were "horrible".

"DMX tore me to pieces. I remember being stunned," he explained.

"I had to figure this out. If you want to be a headliner, you better put on a headline show.”

Jay-Z will perform at this year's Isle of Wight Festival on the Friday night of the June 11-13th 2010 bash, with Calvin Harris, Doves and Florence and the Machine playing sets on the same day.

The Strokes will then headline the Saturday night of the Isle of Wight Festival before former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney closes the event on Sunday evening. ADNFCR-3083-ID-19718113-ADNFCR
