Kings of Leon to headline Isle of Wight Festival

Kings of Leon are the first act to be confirmed for the 2011 Isle of Wight Festival.

The chart-topping Tennessee rockers will top the bill on the Friday night at next summer's event, which is set to take place at Seaclose Park between June 10th and 12th.

Festival promoter John Giddings said he is already looking forward to seeing "one of the world's biggest rock bands" arrive on the Isle of Wight.

"It is an incredible way to start the weekend, I can't wait," he added.

The organisers have promised to deliver a particularly exciting and diverse line-up of bands next year, as the event will be celebrating its tenth birthday.

Further announcements on the headline acts are due later this week.

People planning to combine a trip to the festival with their Isle of Wight holidays will be able to purchase tickets from 09:00 GMT on Friday (November 19th).

This year's Isle of Wight Festival saw performances from Jay-Z, The Strokes, Blondie and Paul McCartney.
