Isle of Wight festivals to be shot in 3D
Tue 12 Apr 2011
People whose Isle of Wight holidays do not fall during some of the island's most popular events may find they can still experience the spectacles in a special way.
Sky Arts has revealed the Isle of Wight Festival and Bestival will be the only two musical gatherings that it shoots in 3D this year.
John Cassy, channel director of Sky Arts and Sky 3D, said the festivals the company has chosen to cover with the new technology are known to attract some of the biggest and best acts.
He explained: "We are particularly excited about Bestival and the Isle of Wight Festival, where we'll break new ground by bringing them to life through 3D."
Filming the events in this way is a great opportunity to bring viewers closer to the action than ever before, Mr Cassy added.
Bestival 2011 is to take place in September and some of the acts already confirmed include Primal Scream, The Cure, Pendulum and PJ Harvey.
