Isle of Wight Festival tickets to go on sale

Music fans could be booking their Isle of Wight holidays for next summer, as tickets for one of the island's major events are set to go on sale this week.

On Friday (September 30th), passes for the 2012 Isle of Wight Festival will become available, with tens of thousands of people likely to snap them up quickly.

Next year, the island will be playing host to the event on a different weekend than usual, in order to avoid potential clashes with the Queen's Jubilee.

The Isle of Wight Festival will now be held on June 22nd to 24th 2012, in order to prevent transport issues causing problems for those trying to get on and off the island in the summer.

It means the island bash will be hoping to fill the gap in the festival schedule left by the fact Glastonbury is not taking place in 2012, in order to allow the Pilton fields to recover.

John Giddings, promoter of the Isle of Wight Festival, confirmed that he had been advised to change the date of the event in order to release pressure on infrastructure.

He explained how it would have been running at the same time as school half-term holidays, as well as clashing with the Jubilee celebrations all over the UK.

Music lovers who are on the Vodafone mobile phone network are able to get their hands on tickets for the 2012 Isle of Wight Festival from today through an exclusive presale.

From 09:00 BST this morning, individuals could purchase passes for the event and begin planning their Isle of Wight holidays for the summer.

Those who are concerned about how they will find enough money to cover the cost of their Isle of Wight Festival tickets can take advantage of the finance options unveiled by the organisers.

This allows revellers to make the payment in three separate instalments over the course of the next five months, with the presale tickets available at the 2011 prices of £175 for those who want to camp on the festival site and a reduced £150 for people staying outside the festival.

After the two weeks of the early bird period are over, the cost of tickets for the Isle of Wight Festival 2012 will revert to £190 including camping and £160 without.

Children under the age of six gain entry into the festival site for free, with seven to 12-year-olds paying £75 in the early bird time without camping and £87.50 with.

This year, the Isle of Wight Festival boasted acts such as US rock bands Foo Fighters and Kings of Leon, as well as the cream of British music in bands including Kasabian, Pulp and Manic Street Preachers.

Also on the bill were artists as diverse as Iggy and the Stooges, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Beady Eye, Alexandra Burke, Tom Jones and Jeff Beck.
