Isle of Wight Festival 'maintains its charm'
Tue 19 Apr 2011
The Isle of Wight Festival has maintained its charm over the years and is an event well worth checking out for revellers looking to take part in a piece of history.
According to a report written for the Handbag website by Anneke Hak, some of the most famous cultural moments that have happened in the UK took place on the island.
She cited Jimi Hendrix's legendary appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970, which proved to be one of the last times the guitarist was seen in public as he died in a London hotel room just a few weeks later.
"The Isle Of Wight Festival is one of the oldest music events in the UK," noted the writer.
Acts headlining the 2011 Isle of Wight Festival include Pulp, Kasabian, Foo Fighters and Kings of Leon, while Leeds-based indie band Kaiser Chiefs were recently added to the line-up for the June event.
