Isle of Wight Festival has 'best line-up ever'

This year's Isle of Wight Festival has the best line-up it has ever had, according to the event's promoter.

John Giddings noted that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the Isle of Wight Festival which starred a legendary performance from guitarist Jimi Hendrix.

Sir Paul McCartney will close the festival, which this year takes place from June 11th-13th 2010, with Jay-Z and The Strokes also set to play headline sets over the weekend.

Mr Giddings said festivalgoers should be prepared for all weather, although the Isle of Wight Festival usually enjoys warm sun.

He said: "We've never had rain before, but you never know. Bring your wellies, sun lotion, drink lots of water and dance.

"This year our theme is beachwear."

People heading to the Isle of Wight Festival will also be able to watch the World Cup at the event, with England's match against the USA coinciding with the event.

A special field will be set up with a big screen for football fans to see the game between bands.
