Isle of Wight Festival bosses tight-lipped on Macca rumours
Wed 17 Feb 2010
Organisers of the Isle of Wight Festival are neither confirming nor denying rumours of a possible appearance by Sir Paul McCartney.
Speculation began earlier this week when Kim Dawson of the Daily Star revealed that her "spies" have told her the music veteran will be the Sunday headliner this year.
However, officials at the Isle of Wight Festival have so far made no official announcement about who will be heading the bill on the final night.
VentnorBlog got in touch with organisers to try to get more details, but they only said that "there's loads of rumours around this time of year".
If Sir Paul does take the Sunday headline slot, he would be following in the footsteps of other veteran rockers such as David Bowie, The Rolling Stones and Neil Young.
REM, The Police and Bryan Adams have also performed in this slot in previous years.
Sir Paul recently undertook a brief European tour, playing in cities such as London, Paris, Dublin and Hamburg shortly before Christmas.
