War spirit brought to life at Isle of Wight event

Wartime spirit was brought back to life on the Isle of Wight at the weekend during a special commemorative event.

Hundreds of people took part in the celebration at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, which was transformed into a 1940s-style destination.

According to a report by the Isle of Wight County Press, attendees were treated to a wide range of live entertainment on the day.

That included music from the likes of the Spitfire singing group, while there was also a performance from Wavy Navy, with their own version of the wartime sitcom 'Allo 'Allo.

"There was a display of historic military vehicles as well as dancing performed by the Cinque Ports Lindy Hoppers," noted the news provider.

Special events are regularly held at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, which later this month (July 16th and 17th) will be hosting the Island Motor Show and the Jaguar Classic Car Show (July 31st).
