The Drifters play 'phenomenal' Isle of Wight show with children

A school choir of 25 students has been lucky enough to perform a gig with none other than The Drifters at the Medina Theatre on the Isle of Wight.

The children - all from Barton Primary School in Newport - took to the stage with the music icons to sing Saturday Night at the Movies and M People's Search for the Hero, the Isle of Wight County Press reports.

Karin Wales, head teacher of the school, described the event as "just phenomenal", saying the band was "gracious and charming and put on a fantastic show with the children".

Before the gig took place, the youngsters were also visited by lead singer Michael Williams, who held a Q&A session and did a bit of practicing with them.

The Drifters are about to kick off a tour of the UK, taking in Cannock, Birmingham, Woking, Durham, Glenrothes, Edinburgh and Swansea, among other locations.
