See amazing creatures in the Haven

One of the finest animal attractions around, the Owl & Monkey Haven is a great place to take the kids if you're staying on the Isle of Wight this half-term.

Packed with a diverse collection of primates and birds of prey, the award-winning habitat has been designed to ensure that the rescued animals are living in the best-possible conditions. This means spacious enclosures in which they can relax and a serene environment to ensure they are not facing any undue stress.

That doesn't mean that you won't be able to see them though, and many of the animals certainly like the attention. And make no mistake, the animals are definitely the stars of the show.

Among the various species of owl calling the Haven home are Lunar, the Turkmenian eagle-owl; Whistler, Clicky and Ketch, who are eagle-owls hailing from Bengal; Dougal and Freda, the snow owls; tawny owl Beau; and Chico and Chilli, who are roufous-legged owls.

There are even more personalities among the primates, including white-throated capuchins Martin, Lulu and Malou; Treacle, Makazive, Tonka and Wheat, a group of Javan langurs; Djebra, a red-tailed guenon; Panama and Pequeni, a pair of red-bellied tamarins; and Hobo, Dray, Tammy, Spok and Minka, a group of Rhesus macaques with a bit of a reputation for monkeying around.

Beyond the monkeys, the Haven is also home to a selection gibbons and lemurs, so there are plenty of great animals to see during a trip to the sanctuary.

Depending on when you visit, there are also fantastic activities for the young ones to take part in. On the daily schedule is breakfast time for the primates at 10am, followed by the first owl talk of the day at 11am. At 11.30am, there's a chance to meet some of the Haven's other inhabitants: the snakes!

At various points throughout the afternoon, you'll also be able to go on a tour around the monkey sanctuaries with the keepers and watch them get fed, while also learning all about these amazing creatures.ADNFCR-3083-ID-801653279-ADNFCR
