Royal revival on Isle of Wight this weekend

Last minute Isle of Wight holidays could be popular among those who want to get away for the weekend, with a royal revival being hosted on the island over the coming two days.

According to a report published by the local news source VentnorBlog, the seaside town of Ventnor will be playing host to a number of activities and events over the weekend.

The Royal Hotel in the town is the venue for the revellers to head to, with the fun starting tonight when a set from The Bovril Sisters - a tribute of The Boswell Sisters - will be held in the conservatory, along with Bellini cocktails for guests.

Two sets will be performed by the act over the course of the weekend and there will be accompanied entertainment from resident pianist Simon Fricker, with ticketholders also being provided with a three-course meal.

An Edwardian Gala night is on the menu for tomorrow evening, with Kir Royale cocktails being served in the hotel from 18:30 BST, with Fricker again on the piano.

"In homage to the original Michelin Guide of 1911 there will be a three-course Edwardian inspired gala dinner created by award-winning chef, Alan Staley," noted the report by VentnorBlog.

It comes shortly after it was revealed that the Royal Hotel has managed to hold on to its place in the new Michelin Guide.

Following the serving of the dinner, entertainment will be provided by world-renowned jazz singer and pianist Liane Carroll, who will be playing a set featuring the likes of Noel Coward to Ella Fitzgerald in the conservatory.

Some 53 bedrooms are boasted by the popular location for Isle of Wight holidays, while the building itself was built back in 1832.

It has kept its place in the Michelin Guide since the first issue of the publication a century ago.
