Line-up for Isle of Wight Literary Festival revealed

The organisers of next month's Isle of Wight Literary Festival have confirmed the line-up of writers who are going to be appearing at the event.

Louis de Bernieres, Gyles Brandreth, Lord Grade, Celia Imrie, Toby Young, Anneka Rice, Brough Scott and Raffaella Barker will all be travelling to the Isle of Wight to take part in the festival, which is set to run from October 12th to 14th.

According to a report by the Isle of Wight County Press, this will be the first event of its kind ever to have been held on the island.

Among the activities lined up for the three days of the literary festival are tours, debates and creative writing and media workshops, as well as poetry jams, bookbinding classes, music and storytelling.

"With a remarkable literary heritage - Keats, Dickens and Tennyson were all here - and a well-established reputation as a festival venue, the Island is the perfect place to host a literary extravaganza," said a spokesperson for the event.

Indeed, Tennyson wrote so many of his most famous works on the Isle of Wight that a part of the island's countryside was named the Tennyson Downs as a result.

Northwood House, Cowes is set to host most of the events taking place as part of the Isle of Wight Literary Festival and the profits from the weekend are set to go towards the upkeep of the location.

A talk on Dracula by Bram Stoker's grandson Noel Dobbs is sure to be among the highlights of the event, while an evening with Rebecca Chance gives attendees the chance to hear excerpts from her latest steamy read.

Families are also going to be well catered for at the Isle of Wight Literary Festival, with events for children lined up alongside a discussion on e-books hosted by Lord Grade of Yarmouth.

The popularity of e-readers such as the Kindle has rocketed in recent years and the future of the literary industry is sure to be affected by their continued success.
