Legendary fiddler to perform on Isle of Wight

Legendary fiddler Peter Knight is to perform on the Isle of Wight later this month.

People on Isle of Wight holidays next weekend will be able to see the musician in action, as he is set to appear with Gigspanner at Quay Arts.

The singer and fiddle player for Steeleye Span will perform alongside guitarist Roger Flack and Afro-percussionist Vincent Salzfaas at their gig in the Anthony Minghella Theatre on May 15th 2010, reports the Isle of Wight County Press.

Of themselves, Gigspanner state on their website: "It is music regarded with a fresh eye and yet retains a sense of the familiar at its heart."

Although Gigspanner was originally created by Knight to perform gigs in Hastings, he soon decided to broaden their horizons and the band released their debut album Lipreading the Poet in 2008.

Earlier this year, Knight was voted Musician of the Year by members of the Talkawhile music forum. ADNFCR-3083-ID-19764931-ADNFCR
