Isle of Wight to host free illustrated talk

Tourists on Isle of Wight holidays this month who are interested in photography could attend a free talk on the subject during their time on the island.

Dimbola Museum and Galleries is hosting an illustrated talk by Karen Grainger on January 17th, with the focus placed on Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, reports VentnorBlog.

Attendees will be able to learn all about one of the most remarkable people to have ever lived on the island, who created her pictures despite the potentially lethal chemistry involved in doing so.

The event is being put on at the location as part of a funded heritage programme on Cameron's work on the Isle of Wight between 1864-1875.

Dimbola Lodge is currently holding an exhibition based on the work of the late filmmaker Ken Russell titled London Lost and Discovered, with visitors able to go along until January 22nd.

Russell, whose movies included Women in Love and Tommy, died in November last year.
