Isle of Wight to hold version of Dragons' Den

The Isle of Wight is preparing to hold its own version of the popular entrepreneurial BBC television show Dragons' Den.

According to a report by the Isle of Wight County Press, Cowes Primary School will be hosting the event on April 14th 2011, while the project is being launched to encourage people to come up with ideas from this month.

Local businesspeople involved in the promotion of the scheme include Richard Quigley of Corrie's Cabin fish and chip shop, Malcolm McGregor from McGregor's Barbers and Carl Crawley of Made by Hippo web design, as well as Alex Moore from A&A Property and Tim Harris of Clear Advice Mortgages.

Mr Quigey stated that he came up with the idea as a reaction to the coalition government's austerity measures.

"Luckily, I have found five other business owners who are prepared to put their money where there mouth is and to contribute time and expertise to the school," he said.

It was recently revealed that Hilary Devey is to replace James Caan on the next series of Dragons' Den.
