Isle of Wight event 'to see island turn yellow'
Wed 29 Sep 2010
Tourists taking Isle of Wight holidays this weekend may notice some strange happenings during their time on the island.
On Friday (October 1st 2010), the island will turn yellow as part of fundraising activities for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
Last year's Go Yellow Day raised £18,000 for the charity and it is hoped this year's total will end up being even bigger, reports the Isle of Wight County Press.
"Events include a car wash at Fairlee Service Station, Newport, lunch at the Priory Bay Hotel in Seaview and a coffee morning at RJR Solicitors, Ryde," noted the local newspaper.
People taking Isle of Wight holidays in Newport that day may be able to spot employees of WP Recruitment, who will be dressing up as bananas and trying to persuade people in the town to hand over their cash.
Those who are visiting the Isle of Wight this weekend can see The Fabulous Shadows perform at the Medina Theatre on Saturday night (October 2nd).
