Isle of Wight Council issues tips for Queen's visit

Tourists booking Isle of Wight holidays so that they are able to see the Queen on her tour of the island this week have been given advice for the occasion.

According to the Isle of Wight Council, it is crucial those who want to see the monarch and her husband Prince Philip travel by public transport to Cowes, as car parking spaces are limited.

It was noted by the local authority that a special service is going to be put on to transport individuals to Cowes from Newport via a bus operated by Southern Vectis.

Parking will be free in Isle of Wight Council car parks in Newport on the morning of the visit on Wednesday (July 25th), while the Royal Return bus ticket is priced at £3.

There will be no public access to Cowes Yacht Haven on the day, so those who want to go along to see the Queen on her tour of the Isle of Wight are instead advised to head to Prince's Green or The Parade for a sight of the monarch, who is celebrating her Diamond Jubilee.

"The Parade will open to members of the public at 07:15 BST. Capacity will be limited to around 12,000 people and once full, people will be redirected to Prince's Green. The Parade will be closed the night before for security reasons," said the local authority in a statement.

It is sure to be one of the most exciting days on the Isle of Wight this summer, with thousands of people expected to line the streets to welcome the monarch and her husband to the island.

During her time on the island, Queen Elizabeth II is set to conduct the official opening of a Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in Cowes.

Operations manager for the RNLI Mark Southwell stated he hopes the monarch's presence results in a rise in donations to the charity.
