Isle of Wight charity dance date announced
Thu 30 Sep 2010
People who are planning ahead to book an Isle of Wight holiday may wish to time their trip to the island to coincide with a major charity event.
The British Red Cross Dance for Life 2011 will be coming to Ventnor Winter Gardens on May 7th 2011, reports the Isle of Wight Beacon.
All young people who love dancing are encouraged to enter the heats for the event, which will raise cash for the world's biggest humanitarian charity.
Patricia Harwood, headteacher at Ventnor Middle School, stated that Dance for Life can help to build the confidence of those who take part.
"It's really great they have to learn about the work of the Red Cross through dance - you feel it's more than a competition because we are also raising awareness of the charity," she said.
The Isle of Wight County Press recently reported that a total sum of £1,500 has been raised at various charity events over the summer for the Breast Care Nurses Trust Fund at St Mary's Hospital by Shanklin Bowls Club.
