Head to Isle of Wight for bank holiday weekend
Wed 24 Mar 2010
Consumers are being encouraged to book an Isle of Wight holiday for the end of May.
According to the Isle of Wight Council (IWC), a trip to the island would allow people to make the most of their bank holiday weekend.
Indeed, it noted that the destination offers a wide range of attractions that appeal to individuals, families and those who are travelling with friends.
The Gatcome and Chillerton Scarecrow Festival, in which villagers erect dozens of scarecrows outside their homes, was flagged up as just one noteworthy event taking place during the weekend.
Visitors were also pointed towards the Isle of Wight Renaissance Festival at Smallbrook Stadium in Ryde, which offers Tudor re-enactments, wandering minstrels and circus performers.
"The long weekend from May 29th-31st provides the perfect opportunity to get away from it all and explore the Isle of Wight," the IWC said.
This comes after the authority suggested that people visit the Isle of Wight on May 1st for the inaugural May Day Jouvay.
