Cycle challenge 'is good way to see Isle of Wight's beauty'
Wed 29 Sep 2010
The Isle of Wight Council has praised the success of the recent cycling event which was held on the island.
It particularly singled out the Cycle the Wight challenge which closed the festival, pointing out that it is a good way to see the Isle of Wight's spectacular scenery.
Leader of the Isle of Wight Council David Pugh, who himself took part in the event, stated that it is a great opportunity to attract people to the island.
"Part of the charm of this event is the fact it is open to people of all ages and abilities. I understand this year the 70-mile route was completed by a ten-year-old girl," he said.
It is thought the money raised for the British Heart Foundation during the 2010 Isle of Wight Cycling Festival could come close to or beat last year's total of £12,197.
Isle of Wight holidays are ideal for those who love to cycle, as the island features more than 200 dedicated routes to bikers.
